For parents and carers
We’re here to help you give your child the best possible start in their early learning journey. Our early years team offers friendly, practical support, including:
- guidance on choosing the right early years setting for your child
- support with transitions into preschool and reception
- clear information about early childhood development and wellbeing
- advice for families where a child has a social worker or care experience
- support with Personal Education Plans (PEPs) for children in care
Our aim is to work alongside you, so your child feels safe, confident and ready to learn.


For early years settings
We work in partnership with nurseries, pre-schools and childminders to help every child feel secure, understood and well supported.
This includes:
- secure sharing of relevant information
- early identification of needs to ensure timely support
- promoting attachment aware and trauma informed practice
- helping children move smoothly into school
- training and professional advice for staff
- ensuring high quality early years PEPs
Pupil premium/early years pupil premium (EYPP) support
We provide guidance to help settings and families make the most of, including:
- effective, evidence-based use of EYPP funding
- supporting speech, language and communication development
- early identification of SEND and appropriate interventions
- information on funding for previously looked after children (PLAC)
