Child Performance and Employment Licensing (CEPL)

Having a part time job can be a rewarding experience for young people. Children can be employed in light work from the age of 13 and any child of compulsory school age, must have a permit to work.

Similarly, many talented children in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole enjoy working in the entertainment industry and taking part in a variety of performances.

A performance license is required if the child will be absent from school, they have (or will have) performed for more than 4 days in a six month period or they will be paid.

The CEPL team makes sure children taking part in employment or performance have the right licenses in place to safeguard them in their activity.
